Harry Edwin Gilmore's Obituary
Harry E. Gilmore, a long-time resident of Richardson, passed away on June 30, 2016. He was born in Denison on July 9,1923 to Duncan A. and Georgia Sills Gilmore. He lived in Denison until his mother’s death in 1933. He and his father then lived in Turkey and Spade, TX until he enlisted in the Army in Dec 1942. During WW II, he served in England, France, and Germany until returning home to Turkey in Dec 1945. Harry was honorably discharged and went to work for the VA, meeting his future wife there. He later took a position with General Electric, transferred to Richardson in 1961, and retired from G.E. in 1986 after 35 years with the company. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Frances McArthur Gilmore of Richardson; his daughters Nancy Gayle Gilmore of Richardson and Susan Patricia Ellington of Ann Arbor, MI; and his grandchildren Jennevere Cathernine and Jarrett Duncan Ellington of Ann Arbor, MI. He was preceded in death by his sister Catherine Corinth Gilmore. Harry was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Richardson. He worked in the Sunday School department for many years with the two and three year old age group. He was optimistic, funny, and steadfast. He loved photography and travelled extensively both in the U.S. and abroad. Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at 3 PM at the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted into Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75243. Pastor Gerald Ware officiating. Donations in lieu of flowers requested for the Alzheimer’s Association.
