Harry Clayton Knappenberger's Obituary
Harry Clayton Knappenberger was born in Penalosa, Kansas on April 24, 1923 to Harry Cable Knappenberger and Jewel Knappenberger and passed away April 6, 2015 in Plano, Texas, at Prestonwood Rehabilitation. When he was in High school, his family moved to Kansas City, Kansas. He served proudly in the Army during WWII. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering from Kansas State University. While there, he was a member of the fraternity – Kappa Sigma. He held many offices in the fraternity including president. After graduation from Kansas State University, he began his career with Century Electric Company. He was very proud to be employed by them for over 40 years. In 1948, he married Maxine Myrtle Schuppener who he had met in Kansas City while they were both attending Southwestern High School. Their marriage lasted almost 50 years as she preceded him in death by about 8 years. Karen is married to Stephen Holt, Laura is married to Dru Myers, and Alan is married to Bonny Boeser Knappenberger. Clayton has four grandchildren, Jeffrey Knappenberger, Mark Knappenberger, Joseph Knappenberger, and Garrett Johnson; He also has two great-grandchildren, Clayton Knappenberger and Kayla Knappenberger. After Clayton retired, he spent much of his free time volunteering at Dallas Medical Center (previously RHD Hospital), Farmers Branch Public Library and assisting people with their Income taxes during tax time. His favorite hobbies were reading mysteries, gardening, walking, and watching sports. He loved animals, and there were always pets in the Knappenberger household. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Dallas Humane Society or any organization you choose in Clayton’s name. Clayton’s funeral will be a private family ceremony at Restland Funeral Home with burial following there, next to his beloved wife, Maxine. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75238 at Restland Road.
