Harry Beau Lucas' Obituary
LUCAS, HARRY BEAU passed away peacefully August 1, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 31, 1920 in Primrose, KY to Pearl and William Lucas and grew up in Beattyville, KY. Harry attended Eastern Kentucky University, completed Midshipman training at Columbia University, and served as a naval Lieutenant in World War II. He mustered out of the Navy in Kansas City, where he married his wife of 67 years, Phyllis Margaret Siegrist. He entered the automobile business, and worked for American Motors and the Ford Motor Company before entering the real estate industry. He sold buildings for the Templeton Company, then joined Trammell Crow and, later, the Vantage Company. In 1980 he purchased Vantage Realty and renamed it the Harry B. Lucas Company. He took great pleasure in encouraging, hiring, and mentoring young professionals in commercial real estate. He was inducted into the Real Estate Hall of Fame in 2004. Over the years he taught 6th grade Sunday school classes, worked with church youth groups, Boy Scout Troops, and the Trinity River Mission. He dearly loved tennis, the Dallas Cowboys, Houston’s Restaurant, his close friend Bill Hutt, traveling the world, and his Lovers Lane United Methodist Church family. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; sister, Nancy West; brother, Gerald Lucas; five children, Teresa Phillips, Harry Beau Lucas, Jr., Gail Fiume, Thomas Lucas, and Jay Lucas; 9 grandchildren, Ryan, Amy, Erin, Thomas, Blake, Fonda, Hunter, Lauren and Rich and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, Elwood and Bill and his grandson, Beau. His enthusiasm, joy, sense of humor, and sweetness will be greatly missed. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Sunday, August 4, 2013 at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be held Monday, August 5, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church.
