Harry James Rokas
August 31, 1939 – August 13, 2021
Harry James Rokas fell asleep in the Lord on August 13, 2021, leaving this life in his 81st year on earth to await the resurrection of the dead and the life of the age to come. Harry was born on August 31st, 1939, to James Anthony Rokas and Mary (Kazanas) Rokas in Waco, Texas. He attended Waco public schools and Baylor University. He served honorably in the Texas National Guard for 6 years. Harry married Thespo Nina Parker (Pangalides) on June 23rd, 1968. He worked for K-Mart as an assistant manager in various locations throughout Texas. Being transferred every 12-18 months, he chose to leave K-Mart as it was not the way he wanted to raise a family. He then went to work for Montgomery Ward in San Antonio, Texas, as a district drapery manager, warehouse manager and store merchandiser for 30 years. After retirement he settled in Dallas, Texas in 2012. He was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. He appreciated spending time with his Koumbari, friends, and Ahepan brothers. In his free time, Harry enjoyed playing golf, solving jigsaw puzzles, playing poker, watching old westerns, and hosting Super Bowl parties. He fought courageously for many years with multiple health concerns. Harry was well known for his gentle heart, sweet demeanor, and funny quips. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Anthony James Rokas. He is survived by his wife, Nina; son, Michael and wife, Georgia; daughter, Maria and husband, John; and grandchildren, Lizzie, Dimitri, Yianni and Nicholas; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren.
The Trisagion Service will be held at 7 PM Monday, August 16, 2021, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church . The funeral service will be held at 12:30 PM Tuesday, August 17, 2021, also at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, followed by the interment at Restland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be sent to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 13555 Hillcrest Rd, Dallas, TX 75240.
