Harry Maxson Schmidt's Obituary
Of Plano, TX peacefully departed on April 30, 2012 in the privacy of his own home from the loving arms of his family into the love of God’s arms. Harry was born on December 25, 1944 in Atlanta, GA. He attended Highland Park High School in Dallas and Westminster College in Missouri. A determined self starter, Harry was the owner and chief mechanic of “The Blue Max” Funny Car and was inducted into the NHRA Hall of Fame. He was an avid golfer and successful entrepreneur, who launched one of the largest gold wholesale jewelry company’s in Dallas, called HMS. He is preceded in death by his Father Charles D. Schmidt and his Step-Father Major General Ed Wheeler. He is survived by his Mother Betsy Wheeler, Brother Don and his Wife Carolyn, Sister Susan, Nephew Brandon and his Wife Lauren, his loving Wife of 21 years Terri and 2 Daughters Hillary and Hailey. The memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at 1:00pm in the Sanctuary of Prestonwood Baptist Church, reception following at Prestonwood. A man with a quick wit, love of his family and friends, and strong faith in the Lord and Church will forever be dearly loved and greatly missed.
