Harvey Edward Cox's Obituary
Harvey Edward Cox, born December 8, 1936, passed away on February 11, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer. Harvey was born in El Reno, Oklahoma to Harvey and Elsie Mosley Cox. He grew up on Fort Reno Army base. His father was transferred to Memphis Tennessee, where Harvey graduated high school. The family later moved to Fort Worth, Texas where he attended Texas Wesleyan College. Harvey joined the Army in July of 1958. He attended basic training at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas and upon completion was transferred to Fort Lewis, Washington. From Fort Lewis Washington he was assigned to the Special Forces Unit in Berlin, Germany. He proudly served 5 years active duty for his country, which he loved dearly. He married Nancy Farrell Cox in April 1959 while home on a short leave. Harvey and Nancy were stationed in Berlin during the time in history that the Berlin Wall was built. They had three children who were all born in Berlin. Harvey graduated from Texas Wesleyan College in Fort Worth, Texas after completing his military service. He then went on to have many different career opportunities such as manager of the Press Club in Fort Worth and also the Windmill Dinner Theater in Fort Worth and Dallas. He also worked with Pizza Inn and owner of the Dallas Cowboys, Clint Murchison. Harvey and Nancy moved from Forth Worth to Dallas, Texas in 1971. They later established a family business that is still active after 44 years. Harvey was a very devoted, loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is preceded in death by his mother, father and baby brother, Harley. Harvey is survived by his loving wife Nancy of 55 years; his sister, Jane Westerman; his daughter and her husband, Angela and Brett Farrar; his son and his wife, Gregg and Phoung Cox, and his son and his wife, Clayton and Marcella Cox; six grandchildren, Courtney Cox, Hunter Cox, Steven Cox, Sydni Farrar, Haley Farrar, and Harley Cox and two great grandchildren; McKenzie Cox and Josiah Frazier. The visitation for Harvey will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Restland Funeral Home. The funeral service for Harvey will be at 11:30 AM on Thursday, February 19, 2015 In The Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. A military burial will be held for Harvey at 2:00 PM at DFW National Cemetary. Police motorcade escort from Restland to DFW National Cemetary. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
