Harvey Rolandis Heilman Jr.'s Obituary
He was the son of Anna Esther Geesy Heilman and Harvey R. Heilman, Sr. who called him “Junior” and he hated it. He spent his entire childhood in the Thomasville/York area and later graduated Momouth College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Geology. In 1952 he joined the Army and rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant. He married Rita A. Zelones Heilman on October 2, 1954 and moved with his new bride to Alaska where the first of five children was born. After his discharge from the Army in 1955, he worked for RCA. He started working for Texas Instruments as an Engineer in 1963 and moved to Dallas, TX where he lived with his family for the rest of his life. While at Texas Instruments he worked on many classified military projects – several of which are still used in current military campaigns. He retired from Texas Instruments in 1992. In retirement Harvey stayed busy serving as a substitute high school teacher for the Richardson Independent School District. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita and great-grandchild, Tyler. Harvey is survived by his brother Boyce Heilman of New Cumberland, PA, his five children, Stephen John Heilman of Plano, TX; Cynthia Ann Heilman Otts of Garland, TX; Constance Marie Heilman Rivas of Plano, TX; Rita Ann Heilman Ferrer of Lewisville, TX; and Jennifer Desire Heilman Grieser of Wylie, TX; 13 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. He was a good and honorable man and will be missed. Be at peace… Funeral service to be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, March 30, 2010 in Restland’s Wildwood Chapel. Interment at 11:30am, Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at the Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery.
