Harvey Joe Jarrell's Obituary
A devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and true gentleman, Harvey J. Jarrell passed away on November 27, 2009. Born in Newlin, Hall County, Texas, he is preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Lucille Jarrell. An early graduate of Memphis High School in Memphis, Texas, Harvey served in the U.S. Army with tours in the United States and Germany. After serving his country, Harvey continued his education by earning a BA from Texas Tech University. Harvey dedicated his career to the insurance industry in Dallas, where his kind and gentle spirit led to loyal client relationships, as well as life-long friendships. He began his insurance career with Travelers Insurance in underwriting management. Later, as an insurance broker specializing in energy and chemicals, Harvey worked for Alexander & Alexander (AON) and retired from Marsh & McClennan (previously Sedgwick). A year after retirement, he began a new chapter in his career, serving Maclean, Oddy & Associates for five years. His business travels took him to interesting places such as New York, London, and Yemen. Harvey was a member of Dallas Bible Church and his passions in life included playing cards and dominoes with his close friends and spending time with his grandsons. His gentle ways and genuine interest in others impacted all who were blessed to know him. Harvey is survived by his caring wife of 23 years, Jane; his sister Patsy Jarrell of Memphis, Texas; his daughter Sheri McGregor, son-in-law Alex, and grandson Matthew and his daughter Cindy Howard, son-in-law Mark, and granddaughters Christa and Amy; son Will Livingston, daughter-in-law Caroline, and grandchildren Bryant, Caleb and Naomi. A memorial service will be held at Dallas Bible Church on Monday, November 30th at 2:00 pm. Interment on Thursday, December 3 at 10:00 am at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
