Hazel Muriel Bridges' Obituary
Waco, TX. ‘ Hazel M. Bridges, age 95, of Waco, TX. passed away on March 7, 2008 at Royal Manor in Waco. Born to Edward M. Harrison and Margaret C. (Estes) Harrison, in Fulton, KS, Hazel spent most of her childhood in Fulton. She married Lyle M. Bridges and they lived in Portales, NM, Amarillo, TX, Farmers Branch, TX and Waco, TX. Hazel spent some of her early adult years as a draftsman in Texas industry but mostly she was an exceptional homemaker and lifemate for Lyle. She was an accomplished amateur artist specializing in charcoal and pencil drawings. Hazel had no children of her own but was an outstanding and much-loved aunt to her nieces and nephews. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Eddie (Fred) Powell, of Green Valley, AZ. Her best friend and surrogate daughter, Ms. Carol Sykora of Waco and several nieces and nephews, also survive her. Hazel was preceded in death by her husband Lyle M. Bridges, her mother, Mrs. Margaret C. Harrison of Eudora, KS, brothers; Virgil R. Harrison also of Eudora, Larry E. Harrison of Lawrence, KS and sisters; Zenobia Kennedy of Orland, CA, Margaret Wild of Waco, TX and Welma Harmon of Montrose, CO. Hazel Bridges embraced her adopted home state of Texas enthusiastically and became one of the proudest, gentlest and most loving ‘Texas Ladies’ the Lone Star State has produced. She represented Texas well. Cremation has taken place and interment is at Restland Memorial Park of Dallas, TX.
