Hazel Lucille "Lucy" Cox's Obituary
Hazel Lucille “Lucy” Cox, 96, passed away on October 2, 2020 in Arlington, Texas. She was born to James and Thelma Williams Cason in Gainesville, Texas, January 2, 1924. Lucy was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Glenn Cox. She is survived by 2 children: Cindy Edwards and husband, Bruce of Mansfield, TX and Tony Cox and wife Jennie of Dallas, TX; 4 grandchildren: Zachary Edwards and wife Amber, Jonathan Edwards and wife Jennifer, Kelley Gunter and husband Matt, and Lora Cox. She was also blessed with 8 great grandchildren: Taryn and Ryan Edwards, Jackson and Ryder Jones and Owen Callaham, and Grace, George and Whit Whitlow.
Lucy loved life and lived it to the fullest! She loved her Savior, Jesus Christ, her family and her church, Northlake Baptist Church with every ounce of energy she had. Her quick wit and ready laugh drew people to her in a most unique way. Hospitality was top on her list – whether it was a friend stopping in for a cup of coffee or a fellowship for the entire church, she made everyone feel welcome and special.
Losing her parents at a young age and being raised by grandparents in Denton, TX gave her an unwavering love and commitment to family. Her love for her kids and grandkids was unquestioned and only surpassed for her devotion to her husband, Glenn. Her practical wisdom and insight, always communicated with humor and warmth will be felt for generations to come…. she will be greatly missed!
Visitation for Lucy Cox will be held at Restland Funeral Home, Thursday, October 8, from 3:00-5:00 pm. Burial at Restland Cemetery, Friday, October 9, 10:00 am followed by the funeral service at Northlake Baptist Church (10110 McCree Rd, Dallas 75238) at 11:30 am.
