Hazel Ruth Houston's Obituary
HOUSTON, HAZEL RUTH, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother went home to the Lord on November 6,2008. She was born on April 23,1922 in Athens, TX. A 1940 graduate of Dallas Technical High School, Hazel married Raymond S. Houston in Greensboro, N. Carolina in 1944. Mrs. Houston was a homemaker and later sales representative for Sanger-Harris and Foley’s from 1972 to 1995. Hazel cherished her family, and her bountiful love and generosity will be sorely missed by all those whose life she enriched. One of her favorite sayings was : “God doesn’t guarantee you another day, so take time to smell the roses.” Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond S. Houston, and son, Raymond S . Houston,Jr., she is sur-vived by half sister, Lily Pressler of Devine, TX; sister-in-laws: Wanda Houston Pendergrass of Sulphur Springs,TX, Joan Houston of Albuquerque,NM, Doris Jean Dilord of Irving,TX and Wanda Stewart of Dallas,TX; sons: Charles S. Houston and John S. Houston of Dallas,TX; daughters: Susan Davis and Sheila Turner of Garland,TX, Sophia Groebe of Mesquite,TX, and Sonia Gosnell of New Iberia,LA; seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Services will be held at the Restland Abbey Chapel on November 15,2008 at 11:00 am with internment to follow at Restland Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Friday, November 14,2008 from 6-8pm at Restland. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
