Hazel Juanita Lee's Obituary
Nita Lee of Richardson, Texas passed away January 6, 2010. Born September 25, 1929 in Norton, Texas to Tina and Charles Lee, she was the daughter of an Army combat veteran who was severely wounded resulting in a permanent disability at Verdun in World War I. Consequently, Nita’s childhood included the challenges of a disabled father as well as the trauma of severe scoliosis requiring spinal fusions at the Mayo Clinic. Despite her numerous medical challenges which eventually took her life, she maintained a disposition of sweet fortitude, a quality that was her lifetime trademark. She graduated from Abilene Christian College in 1950. She was a stay-at-home mom until her children were grown and then worked as a secretary for Exxon Coal and Minerals, retiring in 1993. Nita was a member of the Richardson East Church of Christ. Nita entertained a wide range of friends with a quiet dignity and flair. She loved to cook, read, knit, sing, and travel with her family. Her greatest love was her family for whom She remains an inspiration and model of courage. She saw herself as the beneficiary of southern gentility and hospitality and projected that quality into the lives of other people with her quick wit, acute observations, and ready smile. This great and gracious lady is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, James V. Lee; son, Kerry Lee; and daughter, Gail Lee. Funeral services for Nita will be at held at 2:00 PM at Richardson East Church of Christ, on Saturday, January 9, 2010. Visitation will be at Restland Funeral Home, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, January 8, 2010.
