Heather Marie Dettmer's Obituary
Heather was born with a genetic disorder, Mucopolysaccharidosis III, San Filippo A, which affected her life but not her joyful spirit. She far outlived the typical life span for those with the disorder, and was relatively healthy and energetic. She lived at home with her family until 1992 when she moved to Faith Mission Home in Free Union, VA, where she lived until 2002. Then she moved to Irving Nursing & Rehabilitation in Irving, TX, where non-ambulatory care was provided. She graduated from Irving High School in 2006. She moved to the Christian Care Center in Mesquite, TX, in July of 2009. Preceded in death by her mother, Bonnie Dettmer; and her grandparents, Virginia and Merrell Barnett. Heather is survived by her father, Ray Dettmer; brothers, Nate Dettmer and wife Stephanie, Jared Dettmer, Micah Dettmer; sister, Janelle Girod and husband Marc and their son Andre; grandparents, Ed and Helen Dettmer; aunts,and uncles, Janice and Spencer Brammer, Lori and Rick Boyer, Tim and Char Barnett, Marsha and Buzz Birchard. She was deeply loved by her family. She brought joy to her caregivers and those around her. She now enjoys heaven with her mother Bonnie, and lives in the loving presence of God.
