Heather Jean Rangel's Obituary
Heather Jean Rangel (1975–2024)
Heather Jean Rangel (née Smith), of Heath, Texas, passed away on October 23, 2024, at the same hospital in Dallas where she was born on September 13, 1975. She passed away after a courageous battle with ALS, surrounded by her loved ones.
Heather is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Ruthie Jean Smith and David Wayne Smith. She is survived by her devoted husband, Philip, and their cherished daughter, Lucy. She also leaves behind her daughter, Kaitlin and her husband Scott, her stepdaughter, Christian and her husband Freddy, and her five grandchildren: Sophia, Joshua, Esther, Camilla, and Ruthie. Heather was the loving sister of Kerry, Shannon, Erin, and Mandy, and is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and extended family.
Heather enjoyed a long and fulfilling career at JPMorgan Chase Bank, a job she loved and dedicated herself to. She was a devoted mother and, despite being diagnosed with ALS shortly after marrying the love of her life, Philip, in 2018, she defied the odds and carried their daughter Lucy to term. Her strength and resilience in the face of adversity were remarkable. Heather fought her illness every day, determined to stay with her family for as long as she could.
Outside of her career and family, Heather found joy in reading, movies, and music, but her faith was her greatest source of strength. A devout Catholic, she remained deeply devoted to her faith throughout her life. She loved laughter, especially during family movie nights, which were made complete with pizza and Moscato. Heather’s warmth, determination, and sense of humor made her a true force to be reckoned with.
Heather's family and friends will forever cherish her memory and the lasting impact she had on their lives.
