Helen P. Allison's Obituary
Helen Potter Allison was born February 25, 1953, in Houston, Texas, and died in Dallas, Texas, on July 14, 2022, from Parkinson’s Disease and Lewy Body Dementia. Her parents were W. Scott Potter and Lillian Syfan Cox. She was raised in Houston, graduated from The Kincaid School, and danced with the Houston Ballet. She attended Queens University in Charlotte, North Carolina, graduating with a BS in Biology.
Helen met her future husband, Christopher F. Allison Jr., on a blind date (water skiing in the snow) in college. They fell in love and were married on her family’s ranch in Marble Falls, Texas. She held multiple jobs to support Chris while he attended law school before moving to Dallas in 1981.
Helen was a loving and devoted mother to three children, and her greatest thrill was being a grandmother. She always put others first, had many steadfast friends, and was a gracious host. She could frequently be found volunteering her time with Junior League, Parkland Hospital, and the Episcopal School of Dallas. As an active volunteer within the soccer community, she served as President of the Longhorns Soccer Club and on the Board of Directors for Dallas Cup and the Lake Highlands Girls Classic League.
Helen and Chris traveled the world, and the Galápagos Islands were her favorite. She was an avid sports fan and animal lover. Never missed her nightly cocktail and loved discovering new restaurants. She enjoyed hosting family and friends at the lake house. After breaking her sternum wakeboarding, she became the resident boat captain.
Helen is survived by her husband, their three children, Christopher F. Allison III, Lillian Allison Webb (Justin), and James Scott Allison (Emily), and her two grandchildren, Evelyn Grace Webb and Parker Matthew Webb. She is also survived by her sisters, Luci Potter Seaux and Anita Potter Grisebaum, and their families.
Helen donated her brain to the University of Miami’s Brain Endowment Bank to help prevent and cure brain disease. In lieu of a funeral service, Helen requested that memorials be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. The family would like to thank all the employees of Iris Memory Care Turtle Creek for their loving care.
