Helen Marie Anderson Jordan's Obituary
JORDAN, HELEN MARIE ANDERSON was born to the parentage of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Henry and Cella Stein Anderson on August 25, 1921 in Gilmore, Texas. She was the sixth child of eight siblings, 4 boys and 3 girls. Helen graduated from Bruce High in Gilmer. She United with Moses Chapel CME Church. Later Helen moved to Dallas where she met Willie Jordan January 8, 1943 they united in matrimony, she united with Elizabeth Chapel CME Church with her husband. Later they joined Porter Temple CME Church where Helen served on the Stewardes board, worked with the Missionary Society, President of the sanctuary choir, a fund raiser, she supported any departments of the church when needed. her hobbies were cooking for home, neighbors, church members and friends, feeding the birds, taking in stray cats, sewing, and gardening. Helen was a great humanitarian, she opened her doors to family and friends or whom ever needed a place to live. Helen worked as a professional cook for Sunshine Family Home, DISD. Upon retiring from the schools, she worked along with her husband. They owned H & J cleaners, a Furr Shop, Jordans Brick Yard and H & J salvage yard. The Lord called her from labor to reward. She went to Glory on November 18, 2013. Her husband, parents, one grandson, Bobby Ray Wright and her siblings preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memory daughters, Thelma Marie Wright, Ida White; son, Walter R. Jordan all of Dallas; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 5 great great-grandchildren; Sella Ray, Wilhelminer Green, Clarice Lamar of Dallas, Barbara Green of San Francisco, CA, Rita Jordan of Houston. 7 nephews, Darryl Richards, Donnie Richards, Elvin Richards all of Dallas, other nephews of San Francisco. We the family of Helen Marie Anderson Jordan, wish to extend our deepest appreciation for the many acts of kindness that have been shown to help us bear the passing of our loved one. Please continue to remember us in your prayers. May “GOD” enrich your lives daily and shower blessings on you and your families. Service will be held Monday, November 25, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Porter Temple CME Church in Dallas.
