HELEN JEAN TRAYLOR ARMSTEAD, 82, of Dallas, Texas died JULY 11, 2020 in Dallas, Texas. She was born MARCH 9, 1938 to CRANFORD TRAYLOR, SR and LILLIAN MONTGOMERY in Daingerfield, Texas. She married MICHAEL THOMAS ARMSTEAD on JUNE 6, 1969 in Ellis County, Texas. She was a Business Education Teacher and Career Counselor for Dallas Independent School District for 32 Years. She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
She is survived by spouse MICHAEL ARMSTEAD of Dallas , Texas, sisters ELMER JEAN SMITH - Dallas, Texas, EVELYN THOMAS (VAN) - Houston , Texas, ANNIE BRISCOE - Houston, Texas, EARNESTINE GLADNEY - Houston, Texas, RUBY BAKER - Houston, Texas and CAROLYN TRAYLOR - Greenville, Texas, brothers MELVIN TRAYLOR (SHARON) - Houston, Texas, CURTIS TRAYLOR - Osaka, Japan. She is survived by three nieces Gwendolyn Grant, Glennis Newton (Paul), and Cresida Johnson who were deputized as her children attending to her every need until the very end. She is also survived by a multitude of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by PARENTS: CRANFORD TRAYLOR, SR; LIILLIAN MONTGOMERY. BROTHERS: JAMES TRAYLOR, ROY TRAYLOR, CRANFORD TRAYLOR, JR.
There were no children born to this marriage, but she dedicated herself to nurturing and guidance of children and young adults in her profession as a teacher and counselor. She joined Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas on June 1, 1980. She was a member of The Choir and of The Women’s Ministry. She attended Pilgrim Rest Faithfully until her health began to decline.
