Helen Weishaar Armstrong's Obituary
Helen Weishaar Armstrong, daughter of deceased Arthur and Vernetta Weishaaar, died at the age of 91. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Armstrong.Helen was born in Brook, IN in 1926 and after graduating from high school, she attended International Business College. She was then employed in the AG Department at Purdue University where she met her husband, Robert. They later married in 1947 and had four children: Michael, Catherine, Judith, and Robert..After years of traveling, Maj. Armstrong retired from the Air Force and they made their home in Richardson, TX. Helen then went to work at UT-Dallas and retired in 1988 after 22 years in the Math and Chemistry Departments.Over the years Helen has been active in many school activities, scouting, and also volunteering at area assisted living and nursing homes.Helen is survived by her children, Michael and wife, Elke Armstrong of Missouri Heights, CO; Casey and husband, Rohn Fleming of Missouri Heights, CO; daughter, Judith and husband Jim Christiansen of Joplin, MO; Robert and wife, Alta Armstrong of Vernon, TX; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.The funeral service for Helen will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Restland Wildwood Chapel.In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
