HEWETT, HELEN LOUISE AYERS Funeral services for Helen Louise Ayers Hewett, 91, of Sulphur Springs, will be conducted at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, May 24, at the Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas with Rev. Larry Jordan and Rev. Dustin Slaton officiating. Visitation will be at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at Restland Funeral Home. Louise Hewett died Thursday, May 22, in her home in Sulphur Springs. She was born July 24, 1922, at Newsome, TX, the daughter of Richard and Artie Ayers. They preceded her in death. She married Lavoid Hewett of Scroggins, TX, on August 24, 1946, in Winnsboro, TX. He preceded her in death in 1970. Her and her husband raised their family in Farmers Branch, TX, where they were members of First Baptist Church for many years. She moved to Sulphur Springs in 1972, where she was a member of First Baptist Church of Sulphur Springs for 42 years. She became a Christian at age 18, she was a deacon’s wife, she sang in church choirs, and she taught children in Sunday School. Survivors include one son, Ron Hewett and wife, Mary, of Plano, TX, and one daughter, Donna Jordan and husband, Larry, of Sulphur Springs. Grandchildren are Greg Hewett and wife, Jennifer, Chris Hewett and wife, Emily, Geoff Hewett, and Melody Jordan Slaton and husband, Dustin. Great-grandchildren are Madeline Hewett, Emma Hewett, Beckham Hewett, Stella Hewett, Preston Slaton, Addison Slaton, Jordan Blake Slaton, and Jackson Slaton. She is also survived by one sister, Billye Messimer, of Garland, TX. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Mary Ruth Bannister, Vivian Newsom, Christine Wilcox, and Dorothy Pitman, and three brothers, Randall Ayers, Preston Ayers, and Ralph Ayers.
