Helen Marie Baker's Obituary
Helen Marie Baker
An angel of silence entered into her eternal life on February 6, 2021. She has been promoted to a place of eternal joy. Helen Marie Baker began her wonderful life under the guidance of her parentage, Joe Willie and Odessa Prescott. She was born on November 15, 1932 in Bremond, Texas.
Helen was educated in the Bremond Independent School District. She graduated from Bremond High School in 1950 as the valedictorian of her class. She also attended college at Prairie View A&M. During her working career, Helen was employed at Texas Instruments for many years and retired from Mostek Technologies
Helen was one who was totally dedicated and willing to help others. She dedicated her life to Christ at an early age and her walk with faith was not only a decision, but also her way of life.
Helen was a faithful member of Bethany Missionary Baptist Church and she served as a Deaconess at the church for many years under the leadership of Rev. Ernest Hill, Rev. Marke Toles and under the current leadership of Rev. Albert K. Haynes Sr., Senior Pastor.
She was united in holy matrimony with her husband, Warren V. Baker Sr. on January 2, 1953 in Dallas, Texas. They enjoyed 68 glorious years of marriage and during their union, they had five children.
Helen had a meek manner but was very strong willed. She loved her family and dedicated her life to her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Helen loved to read the Lord’s word and go to Bible Study and share those beliefs with her family. At family gatherings, she loved a good game of Bid Whist or Spades, especially with her sisters. She also loved to fish in her earlier years and sew which she passed on to some of her daughters. Helen loved to grow her plants and solve cross word puzzles. Her favorite song was Amazing Grace by Aretha Franklin and her favorite color was purple.
Her loving memory will never be forgotten by those that knew her and those that will continue to love and cherish her: Her loving husband, Warren V. Baker Sr. of Dallas, Texas; her son, Warren V. Baker Jr., of Dallas, Texas; her daughters, Debra Sims (Harold) of Mesquite, Texas, Rhonda Laurence (Earl) of Cedar Hill, Texas, Phyllis DeGray of Dallas, Texas and Joan Brown (Kevin) of Plano, Texas; her 5 grandkids, 13 great-grandkids, and 5 great-great-grandkids; four sisters, Willie Faye Graves (John Graves Sr.) of Marlin, Texas, Roberta Jones of Barnesville, Georgia, Dorothy DeBose and Mildred Scott of Ft.
