Helen Louise Fryar's Obituary
Helen Louise Fryar (Mimi) passed peacefully into her eternal home with God on Saturday, November 15th, 2025. Born June 16th, 1926, Helen grew up on a farm west of Plano, Texas with her mother Minnie Agnes Russell, her father William Lawrence Mickle, and her only sibling Mildred Jeanette Christopherson. It was there that Helen learned to love family and to enjoy and care for animals. After high school, she met her forever love and WWII Veteran, James Edward Fryar. Upon moving to Dallas, they had three sons, James Edward Fryar, Jr., Michael Alan Fryar and Randall Scott Fryar.
Helen lived a full life and never lost her sense of humor even to the end. She was a special friend to many over the years. She treasured time and experiences with those close to her and truly adored her friends. During her life, Helen loved to travel, having the opportunity to visit many beautiful places throughout a number of countries. Amazingly, just when most people retire at 65, Helen decided to join the Animal Dermatology and Specialty Clinic, where she worked in the care of animals for roughly twenty-five years before retiring at the age of 90.
Given her belief in God, Helen followed a steady desire throughout life in following our Lord Jesus Christ. Early on, she attended Northway Baptist Church, before moving her membership later in life to Royal Haven Baptist Church which was much closer to home. Helen loved deeply – especially when it pertained to family. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grand-children greatly and remained forever proud of them. She took every opportunity to keep all the generations together, often reminiscing over old times in the good old days, even speaking of her daddy who had once run upon Bonnie and Clyde on a rural road in North Texas.
Home and family were the core elements of Helen’s life. Food, of course, played a big part of family time, whether in frying a chicken or making a banana pudding.
Thanksgiving and Christmas would always find her cooking for everyone and decorating every nook and cranny of her home. Holidays were her favorite – giving her the chance to shop and cook and give to all. It was almost comic that she only wanted to shop in stores where someone was playing a piano.
Helen is survived by her son James, Jr. and daughter-in-law Kim, son Randall and daughter-in-law Wendy, and daughter-in-law Angie; grandchildren James III, Michael Jr., Brittany, Nicholas, Ciana and Luke; great grandchildren Heming, Huxley, Alex, Kyle, Peter, Sadie, Sophie and Savannah. She was preceded in death by her husband James and son Michael.
