Helen Atchley Gambulos Russo's Obituary
Helen Atchley Gambulos Russo of Dallas, Texas was born on February 5, 1930 in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. She left her earthly home on November 4, 2013. She was a devoted wife, dedicated mother and a loyal friend, but her most cherished role was being “Nana” to her two grandchildren, Rachel and James Byron Gambulos. She will always be remembered by her kind bright smile and twinkling blue eyes that never met a stranger. Helen attended Dallas High School and later Southern Methodist University. Her civic involvement included roles as past president of the Geoflorette Garden Club and a member of The Dallas Petroleum Landmen Wives Group. She was a 60 year parishioner of Holy Cross Episcopal Church and a founding member of the Holy Cross Altar Guild. Among those who will miss Helen the most are the family members she loved so dearly, her caring husband, Martin Russo; son, James Charles Gambulos and wife, Sharon; and two grandchildren. Helen is also survived by her sisters, Sandra Stewart and Barbara Rimoldi and brother, Joseph Muscio, all of San Diego, California, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Esther and Joseph Muscio. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 PM on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral services for Helen will be at Holy Cross Episcopal Church on Friday, November 8 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Restland Funeral Home.
