Helen Chaney Garner's Obituary
Helen Chaney Garner passed into Heaven Wednesday evening January 30, 2019surrounded by family. She was born in Waxahachie, Texas March 13,1921 to Charles andMary Burrnett. Helen grew up in Waxahachie where she completed school and 1 year atTrinity University. She married Robert Kenneth Chaney in 1938. Together they raised two sons –Bob and Charles. Helen worked 40 years as a bookkeeper and at Clockwise Fashions in Dallas for 35 years. Kenneth passed in 1972. She later remarried to Stone Garner in 1974. They loved to travel and play cards. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church since 1933. Currently attending Circle One, Senior Saints and the Outreach Sunday School Class in Garland. She was a 50+ year member in the Order of Eastern Star and a Past Worthy Matron; also active in the Order of Beauceant. Helen loved to garden, read, play bridge, sew, knit, crochet and needlepoint. Some of her fondness memories were to go fishing and shoe shopping with longtime friend Marion Friedel. Helen was humble and had a true servant’s heart always putting others first and wanting to help in any way. Helen was preceded in death by her husband Robert Kenneth Chaney Sr., brother Charles P. Burnett Jr., sister Ida Mae Webb , second husband Stone Garner and her son Charles Burnett Chaney. She is survived by son Robert K Chaney Jr. wife Diana Chaney, three grandchildren Robert Kent Chaney lll, Katherine Chaney, Cory Chaney, wife Caye Chaney and a great grandson Cade Chaney. Also, nieces Martha Rund and husband Greg; Mary Lehner and husband John.Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at 2:00PM at First Presbyterian Church Garland, 930 W Ave B, Garland, TX 75040. A reception will be held after the service in the Narthex. Interment will be private at Restland Funeral Home
