They were married 54 years and raised three daughters, traveled to all 50 states and spent fun-filled times at their lake house. Helen and Howard moved to the Dallas area in 1965 and called it home until they retired and moved to their home on Lake Cypress Springs in East Texas.
While raising her family, Helen was involved in PTA, served as a Girl Scout leader and was active in her church. She worked as a secretary at Bowie Elementary in Richardson. Once she moved to East Texas she became more involved in church and eventually trained to be a Stephens Minister through the Methodist Church. She loved people and serving others, including making two mission trips to Honduras. Helen loved to support and watch her kids and grandkids in their various activities. Helen found joy in making friends and helping people feel welcome. She was an exceptional hostess and loved having her family around for holidays or simple visits. She also enjoyed sewing, cooking, playing bridge and canasta in different groups, as well as participating in several Bible Studies where she made numerous lifelong friendships.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Howard, parents Robert Lee and Velma Staples, daughter Patty Cheatwood, and brother Robert Staples.
