Helen Ruth Pokladnik's Obituary
Pokladnik, Helen Ruth, Heaven’s gain was our loss when Helen Ruth Pokladnik was granted her wings and called home by the Lord on August 16, 2010. Helen was born January 20, 1931 in Ft. Worth, Texas to John and Frances (Ruzicka) Baleja. She met her husband Robert “Sonny” Pokladnik and they were married on February 7, 1953. He preceded her in death on March 28, 2010. She was also preceded in death by her parents. Helen was a graduate of Forest Avenue High School. She attended Bethel Lutheran Church where she was a disciple, playing bells in the “Silver Bells” bell choir for the church services and where she enjoyed helping others through her service at church. She was a member of SPJST Lodge 84 in Dallas and the Dallas Circle of Czech Women. Helen worked as a supervisor and health insurance claims adjuster for Great American Reserve, Conseco, and Dallas National. Helen was blessed with 2 children, Gary and wife Jeannine Pokladnik of Ozark, Missouri and Joann Pokladnik Kristof of their home, and a brother, Leonard and wife Mildred Baleja of Kirkland, Washington who survive her. Helen is also survived by 4 sister-in-laws Lilly Maxcy, Martha Frnka, Mary Kubin, and Annie Petr all of Dallas, along with many family members and friends whom she loved spending time with and caring for. Visitation will be at Restland Funeral Home from 6 to 8 P.M. on August 18, 2010. Services will be at held at 11 A.M. at Bethel Lutheran Church, 11211 E. Northwest Hwy., in Dallas, Texas, on August 19, 2010, followed by burial at Restland Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Ave., in Dallas, Texas.
