Where do I start when it comes to sharing memories about my second/other Mother? I suppose I start at the beginning which is about 72 or 73 years ago when Karen and I were 4 or 5 years old. Charlyne is more than a "family friend," — she is family. She and my Mother (Eva) loved each other like sisters and now, once again, they are together laughing and so happy to see each other. The Speaker family has always been an important part of our life, even though distance may have kept us from seeing each other as much as we would have liked. Karen and I spent every summer — ALL SUMMER — together when they lived at Shawnee. Charlyne treated me like one of her kids and even though she never scolded or spanked me, she probably should have several times. I thought she was so beautiful when I was a little kid and now, as "an old lady," I still think she is beautiful both inside and out. What a wonderful memory I have of spending a few hours with her just a short time before she died. I will always remember her lying there either laughing or at least smiling as Karen, Paula and I reminiscenced about years past. Rest in Peace, lovely Lady — you will be missed and always remembered by those of us who loved you.
