Helen Frances Thompson's Obituary
Helen Frances Thompson passed away peacefully into the presence of her Lord on the morning of May 23, 2016. Born is Sealy Texas on August 30th. 1917. Helen spent most of her life in Texas, living in Dallas from 1959 until her death. Helen was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her passions were for family, grandchildren, traveling, decorating, gardening and cooking. She was a five-star cook who took the international foods she had learned about during her worldly travels and turned them into wonderful delicious meals for her family and friends. She instilled the love of cooking and broaden the culinary horizons of family and friends. She was also a superior seamstress who loved creating wonderful clothes for her children’s special occasions. She was active in her church as well as highly involved for years as a precinct chairperson in her North Dallas neighborhood; working alongside her husband Harvey for local and national elections. Her political highlight was working on the host committee for the 1986 Republican Convention held in Dallas. Helen was one of those special persons who had adoption in her heart. Her children will forever be indebted for the love, wonderful home, life’s experiences and wisdom she shared with and imparted upon them. She along with her husband, Harvey Lee Thompson Jr. of 63 years spent many years in the Middle East specifically in Saudi Arabia; due to Harvey’s job with Aramco – Oil and Gas. During their many years overseas they were able to travel extensively throughout the world. There wasn’t anywhere in the world they were not comfortable. Helen would tell you that she had been around the world twice. A blessing and special thanks to all the staff, caregivers at Day Spring Senior Living Center in Plano, TX; where Helen resided for the past four years. Your treatment of our mother and the Christ-centered care and loving atmosphere you provide for her, as well as all of your residents is unparalleled and something our family will never forget. God Bless You. Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Harvey, her parents Rycie and Ida Brown, sisters, Wilma Thomas and Letha DeWitt and her brother Everett Brown. She is survived by her daughter Janice Wynn of Rowlett, TX and her son Mark Thompson of Dallas, TX, granddaughter Molly Thompson of College Station, TX, grandson, James Wynn, Jr. of Rowlett, TX, numerous nieces and nephews A Memorial Service will take place on July 16, 2016 at 12:30pm at the Restland Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243, 469-522-3659 in the Wildwood Chapel.
