Helen Frances Winkler's Obituary
of DeSoto, TX went to be with the Lord on December 18, 2007 after a long-term illness. She was born March 21, 1922 in Sanger, Texas to the late Will and Ida Green Christian. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 32 years John C. Winkler, Jr. in 1999 and two sons, Billy Dale Simmons in 1980 and Bobby Joe Simmons in 2007. Survived by her son Michael Odell Simmons of Plano; 4 grandchildren: Kelli (Danny) Rhody of Midlothian, TX; David (Tara) Simmons of Harrisburg, PA; Christi (Chad) Smith of Coppell, TX; and Brandon (Lisa) Simmons of Forney, TX; daughter-in-law Patsy Simmons of Heartland, TX and 8 great-grandchildren. Helen was retired from Western Electric in Dallas. For many years she was an active member of Canyon Creek Baptist Church in Richardson and later Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano and Brook Hollow Baptist Church in DeSoto. With her wisdom and knowledge of scripture and her out-going personality, she was instrumental in leading many souls to Christ. Her caring attitude and sweet Christian spirit will be missed by all of her family and friends. Family visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 20 at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas. Funeral service will be held at Restland in Abbey Chapel on Friday, Dec. 21 at 11 a.m. with interment at Restland to follow. Rev. Russell Jones of Brook Hollow Baptist Church will be officiating.
