Beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Helene Pulley passed away on November 12, 2020, and the family wishes to thank the staff of Seasons Hospice Inpatient Center in Dallas for their gentle care and comfort. Born and raised on the island of Kauai, Hawaii, she is survived by her daughters Robin Oliver and Leigh Ann Runeberg and husband Chad; son Kendall Pulley; grandchildren Chris and Chase Oliver, and Haley and Sidney Runeberg and Taylor Whiddon and husband Brian; sister Judy Prim and brother James “Bully” Mundon plus extended family in Hawaii. After high school Helene joined the U.S. Army, during which she met and married her husband Lee, the love of her life who passed away in 2013, while they were both stationed in Japan. After honorable discharge from military service they settled in Mesquite, Texas, where she worked in early childhood education and cared for her family, friends, church and community with selfless commitment and will be remembered as a tireless woman who enjoyed teaching children, countless volunteer activities, spoiling her little dog, and living a life demonstrating God’s love for all. Due to COVID considerations, an outdoor graveside service will be held at Restland for family members only on Saturday, November 21, at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Geoffrey Moore officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to St. Stephen United Methodist Church, 2520 Oates Drive, Mesquite, Texas 75150.
