Henry Lee Powell Jr.'s Obituary
Henry Lee Powell Jr. was born in Dallas, on November 24, 1933 and lived throughout Texas during his childhood. He graduated from Adamson High School in 1952. Henry entered the Navy in 1957 and loved serving his country. He earned several medals including Good Conduct and National Defense Service. After leaving the Navy, Henry moved his family to the Oak Cliff area. He worked in Downtown Dallas as a draftsman. Henry was an avid bowler and enjoyed fishing. He also owned his own business “Vickery and Powell”, with a good friend.He married Sally Sue Rose on April 19, 1980. After retiring, Henry and Sally enjoyed spending time and serving the Dallas Elks Lodge #71 and traveling. He loved family get togethers at his home, and spending time with his kids and grandchildren.Henry was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sally Sue Powell; sister, Ruby Lawrence; brother, Franklin Powell; in-laws, Warren and Martha Hooper; sons-in law, Kerry Land and Larry Cathey and sister-in-law, Martha Ann King.He is survived by his sons, Jim, his wife Stephanie, David Alan, Greg, and his wife Karen, and David Gene; daughters, Nancy, and her husband Tommy, Luan and Cinda; brother, Billy Jack Powell, and wife Beverly; brother-in-law, Robert Jeff Hooper, and his wife Ann, and Bobby King; 17 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren, and a special long life friend Mark Kuehne along with numerous other family members and friends.A special thank you to the staff and nurses at Traditions Senor Living Memory Care, in Sherman, Texas.The family will receive visitors on Monday, March 12, 2018 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Restland Funeral Home. There will be a graveside service held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Restland Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dallas Elks Lodge #71 in Henry’s memory.
