Henry Morris Pruitt's Obituary
HENRY MORRIS PRUITT was born April 28, 1931, to Hardy and Rutha Mae Pruitt in Dallas, Texas. He was educated in DISD, graduating from Booker T. Washington High School. He later attended Bishop College.
He accepted Christ at an early age and attended Hamilton Park United Methodist Church before moving his membership to St. Luke “Community” United Methodist Church. He served on the Finance Committee, was Church Treasurer, and transported Senior Citizens to various activities.
Henry joined the Army and served during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged after serving three years and nine months. He was employed with the United States Postal Services for twenty-five years and retired from General Motors after fifteen years. He was a hardworking and dependable man. He loved attending sporting events, traveling, and socializing with friends and family. In his spare time, he volunteered with Meals on Wheels at St. Philips School and Community Center delivering meals to Seniors in the South Dallas area.
Henry was married to Luerania (White) Pruitt, and they were blessed with two daughters, Patricia Lynn, and Leta Gail. They remained married for more than fifty years before her passing in 2012.
Henry departed earth to eternity on November 7, 2024. He leaves to cherish his memory his two loving daughters, Patricia (Jerry), and Leta, two adoring grandsons; Jeremy Scott (Denise) and Corey Lynn; one great-grand daughter, Vivienne, a host of nieces, and nephews, and close family friends who affectionally call him, “PaPa Pruitt.” He leaves a special friend, Barbara Hutchinson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and his siblings, Hardy Pruitt, Jr., Myria, Nancy, Howard, and Andrew.
