Henry Meyer SoRelle's Obituary
SORELLE, HENRY M of Richardson, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, December 29, 2012. He was born in Houston, TX on December 8, 1929 to Andrew Currie SoRelle and Nita Ray. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother A.C. SoRelle, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife, Frances; sister, Nita Ray Martin of Waco, TX; children, Henry SoRelle, Jr. (Skip) and wife Carolyn of Bowie MD; daughter, Diane Northcutt and husband, Mike of Austin TX; daughter, Linda Piepenbrok and husband, Mark of Plano TX; daughter, Cheryl McCarter and husband, Mike of Plano TX; 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Henry attended Baylor University and was a track letterman for 4 years. While at Baylor he was a co-founder of Word Records. He met his wife, Frances Makowski, at Baylor and they married in Waco, TX on January 5, 1952. He served in the Coast Guard during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954 and played on the Coast Guard football team. He later found success working in both the oil and gas and real estate fields in Houston and Dallas. He loved to fly airplanes and faithfully kept up with his favorite sports teams, the Baylor Bears and Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed telling jokes, making people laugh and being surrounded by his loving family. Most of all, he loved the Lord and took every opportunity to spread the word of Jesus Christ. He was generous and kind to everyone. Henry was a member and deacon of The Heights Baptist Church since 1976 where he also taught Sunday school and became an ordained minister in 2002. Henry founded From Pain to Joy Prison Ministries in 1996 in order to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the incarcerated. He also led a men’s neighborhood Bible Study for 30 years that still meets every Saturday morning to this day. Through these and other generous acts of service throughout his life, Henry made a lasting impact on countless lives. Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of Henry’s life on January 5, 2013 at 10:00 AM at The Heights Baptist Church, 201 West Renner Rd. in Richardson, TX Henry’s non-profit, From Pain to Joy Ministries, continues and is dedicated to the God-given mission to care for and instruct those in prison about Jesus’ love for them (Matt 25:36).
