Henry Franklin Wicks' Obituary
WICKS, HENRY FRANKLIN, age 85, a resident of Carrollton, entered into the joy of the LORD, Sunday, June 1, 2014. Born December 3, 1928, in Petty, Texas to James Wicks and Ollie Higdon Wicks, both having preceded him in death; also preceded in death by his brothers, James Hilyard, Grady, J.B., Wilburn; sister, Bonnie; and daughter, Wendy. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Carrollton for over twenty years. He was also a member of the Trinity Valley Masonic Lodge, the Farmer’s Branch Eastern Star Chapter, the Scottish Rite, and the Shrine. He was hard-working even in his youth, selling fruit door-to-door at age 5 and afterward earning money for his family with a paper route. He married Peggy LaVelle Brown on February 14, 1948. He enjoyed a long career in the newspaper industry, retiring as Assistant Production Director. He is survived by his wife, Peggy B. Wicks; sons, Tim Wicks and Randy Wicks; brother, Jerry Wicks; sister, Margaret Tinney and numerous nieces and nephews, loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, June 03, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, June 04, 2014 at Restland Abbey Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Scottish Rite Hospital.
