Herbert Edward Austin Jr.'s Obituary
Herbert Edward Austin, Jr., 88 passed on March 6, 2012. He was born on July 27, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois. He moved to Texas in the late 70’s and resided in Mesquite for more than 30 years. He served in the U.S. Marines Air Wing during WWII from December 1941 to December 1945 with the rank of a Tech Sergeant and honorable discharge. He was a fireman for a short time after serving in the military. He was an Indiana State Trooper, retiring after more than 20 years. He later became a truck driver and dispatcher, retiring in his seventies. He was a unique and outgoing individual that never stopped living life. He is survived by his wife of 30 years Susan J. Austin and was preceded in death by his brother Jack and his sister Patti. Herb and Susan had a blended family of 6 children, Herbert E. Austin, III, Nancy McClure, Judy Brown, Jerry Austin, Brenda Williams and Brad T. Underwood. There are currently 15 grand children and 24 great-grand children, with one more on the way. Services will be held at 3pm Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Restland Memorial Park in Wildwood Chapel.
