Herbert R. Efflandt's Obituary
Herbert R. Efflandt passed on July 18, 2009 at 85 years of age. Born December 23, 1923 to Herbert W. Efflandt and Marie Higgins Efflandt in Cleveland, Ohio. Herb is survived by his wife of 61 years, Virginia Simpson Efflandt, his sister Anita Efflandt DeShazo and husband George, brother Fredrick W. Efflandt and wife Betty; many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Herb was preceded in death by his mother, father, sister Marien Efflandt Sanford, her husband Bob and nephew Ricky Efflandt. Herb graduated from Dallas Crozier Tech High School in 1941. He joined the Army Air Force and served with the 455th Bomb Squadron based in Cherigonola, Italy as an Aircraft Maintenance Specialist. He revisited his old base in 1975. He formed a partnership with John Theobalt in 1955 as E & T Home Builders. Their master craftsmanship resulted in many beautiful homes and mansions in the Park Cities Area. After retirement Herb and Virginia RV’d in their Vixen motorhome extensively for over 10 years visiting most of the United States and parts of Canada and Mexico. They attended many of the 742nd Squadrons annual reunions throughout the US. Herb and Virginia traveled with Anita and George DeShazo to The British Isles in 1980 to visit many cousins in Ireland and England; to New Zealand, Australia, & Fiju; to Canada both East Coast and transcontinental on the Canadian Pacific Railroad; and on a houseboat on Lake Powell. Herb and Virginia were currently members of the Prestonwood Baptist Church.
