Herbert Weldon Frederick's Obituary
Weldon Frederick, age 90, of Dallas, Texas Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, February 22, 2020 in Plano, Tx. Weldon Frederick was born on July 20, 1929 in Dallas, Texas to R.E. Frederick, Sr. and Mattie Crabtree Frederick. He graduated from Sunset High School in Oak Cliff, Texas, attended SMU and graduated from University of North Texas in 1950 where he was President of Sigma Phi Nu Fraternity. He met and fell in love with Joe Ann Keller and were married on September 15, 1950. A marriage of 69 1/2 years.
On December 7, 1950, Weldon was drafted by the Army and served 2 years as a medical technician at Fort Meyer, Virginia. On return to Dallas he welcomed Patti in 1953, Doug in 1954 and Jayne in 1955. Weldon was a great businessman and entrepreneur. He worked at Sun Oil Co as a chemist for 10 years before he became President and Owner of Energy Laboratories for 53 years. He was also a member of First United Methodist Church of Richardson. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.
This past year he was blessed with his first great granddaughter who he was madly in love with. It was with great joy that he welcomed each of his seven grandchildren. Weldon and Joe Ann made their home in Richardson, Texas and moved to Tradition Senior Living Prestonwood in 2011 where he lived out the rest of his life.
Weldon is survived by his loving wife, Joe Ann Frederick; his children: Patti Powell and Eric of Richardson, TX, Douglas Frederick and Treacy of Saratoga, CA and Jayne Ardis and Bryan of Plano, TX; his grandchildren: Morgan McGowan and Katy of Dallas, TX, Laura McGowan and fiance, Nate of Courtic Ontario, Canada, Jon Frederick of Bartonville, IL, Jennifer Haggar of Dallas, TX, Natalie Alverez and Richard of Plano, TX (and baby Ellie), Joanne Haggar of Houston, TX and Jessie Dudney and Mark of Dallas, TX; six additional grandchildren who came into his life later, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on February 27, 2020 at Restland Memorial Park with an one hour prior visitation at Restland Funeral Home.The celebration of life will be held at Tradition Senior Living Prestonwood 15250 Prestonwood Blvd. Dallas, TX. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to Shriners Children's Hospital or charity of your choice.
