Herbert Lloyd King's Obituary
Born May 6, 1915 in Santa Anna, TX and passed away June 13, 2007 in Dallas, TX at age 92. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Estelle King. Herb served in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. Massachusetts during WWII. He graduated from Furman University where he played football with his brother Bob King, and later worked for the Lone Star Gas Company. He was the baby of a family of six brothers and two sisters and the son of Rufus Oliver and Lillian Caldonia Brown King. He was a longtime member of Gaston Oaks (previously Gaston Avenue) Baptist Church of Dallas, TX. He is survived by his daughter Carol Anne King Plunk, son-in-law Dr. Michael Plunk, and his grandchildren Sarah and Jeffrey Plunk and Jeffrey’s fiance Stephanie Russell. He loved all sports especially tennis which he played until he was 78 years old. He loved to spend time outdoors and gardening. He was an extremely loving man who had nothing but sweet words for everyone. He had a passion for the Lord and lived his life as a Christian example for everyone. One of Herb’s favorite pastimes was dancing and it gives his family joy to know he is now dancing in heaven with his wife Estelle.
