No words can describe just how amazing Mr. King was: as a husband, as a father, as a coach, as a teacher, as a mentor, as a role model, as a friend... He was patient and wise and caring and always, always had a smile. He was a true servant of God. I had the privilege of growing up with him as my best friend's father, whom I would go to church with, and sing with Libby at church while her Mother played the piano so beautifully for us, and rode with her entire family in their car to church, feeling what it was truly like to be a part of a family who shared love and togetherness, and then rode back home, only to keep singing and playing the piano with Libby while Mrs. King made lunch and Mr. King would read his Bible and tell us about Acts and Romans, and all the boys would do homework and study. They were the most disciplined, loving, faithful household I ever experienced in my life. And those wonderful memories will stay with me for the rest of my days. Mr. King, thank you for everything you did for every single one of us who loved and cherished you while you were here on this earth. It seems so brief now. The lessons you taught us, which were innumerable and invaluable, will stay with us all, for as long as we continue here. You will be sorely missed. But now you are in the presence of God. We will see you again one day soon. I give my sincerest condolences, love, and prayers to the cherished family of Mr. King. May God give you peace and comfort in this most difficult time, and please know that I am here for each and every one of you if you ever need me. God bless you all.
I was so sad to hear of the passing of Coach King. He tutored me in math, and was a wonderful neighbor and friend to our family. We know that he is in the loving arms of Jesus right now. My condolences to his beautiful family. Lynn Savage Loughry
Coach King was so important in my life. He taught me base 8 and set the context of this in my mind when I learned hex as a System programmer at IBM. But more than that I saw his facial expression’s as real and trustworthy as one of his athletes. So that made his disappointment and elation so truly genuine you wanted to act and act immediately. Coaching without too many words is a rare art he mastered. And I had the privilege to see it. Thank God for this Godly man and his influence on me. -Neal Cash
