Herbert “Tony” Anton Hansen, 84, of Salado, TX, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2023.
A Celebration of his Life will be observed on Saturday, April 8, 2023, in Salado, TX.
Tony was born on July 11, 1938, to the late Herbert Hansen and Edna (Johnson) Hansen in Aitkin, Minnesota. Shortly after graduating high school, he followed his high school sweetheart/love of his life (JoAnne “Jo” Pittman) to California where he and JoAnne were married (Dec 23, 1961). Tony graduated from California State Polytechnic University with a degree in Electrical Engineering.
After graduation, Tony and Jo moved to Richardson, TX, where Tony started his first job with Texas Instruments as an electrical engineer. He was a devoted father and husband. He was a man of few words. He was intelligent, witty, and knew his way around any workshop. He loved working in the garage on various projects using wood or metal. Tony also enjoyed working on cars and keeping the house in working order. You could always find him tinkering in the garage on any number of projects. Tony especially loved helping his grandchildren create special woodworking pieces for their rooms and homes. In addition, he enjoyed running, spending weekends on the lake, “inventing” Friday night dinner with family and friends. Most recently, he was thrilled to become a Great-Grandfather and beamed whenever he was able to visit with her.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Hansen and Edna Hansen and by his brother, Allen Hansen.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, JoAnne Hansen; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and David Penney; son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Suzanne Hansen; two grandsons, Jonathan and his wife Amanda, and Jacob Penney; three granddaughters, Haley, Ashland and Tagan Hansen; one great grand-daughter, Octavia Penney.
