Homer Jefferson Flewharty's Obituary
FLEWHARTY, HOMER JEFFERSON was born in Sulphur Springs, Texas on July 31, 1917. He passed away on January 24 2014, in Caruth Haven Assisted living in Dallas. He was 96 years old. Homer was the youngest of seven children born to Thomas Jefferson Flewharty and Ida Ozella Flewharty. Homer married Elsie Abernathy September 27, 1947, in Dallas Texas. They had one son, Michael G. Rewharty. Homer was preceded in death by his wife and son. Homer attended George Washington University, in Washington DC He left college to join the Army Air Force after Pearl Harbor. While stationed for two years on Adak Island in the Aleutian Islands he was promoted to the rank of Master Sargent. Homer worked for the Federal National Mortgage Association in Dallas for twenty-five years. Homer was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Sulphur Springs, Texas. He was a member of the Highland Park Methodist Church. Services will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, January 31, 2014 at the Restland Wildwood Chapel with visitation 1 hour prior to the service at the chapel.
