Homer H. Turner Jr.'s Obituary
TURNER, HOMER HENRY, JR. Born September 14th, 1923 in Rule, TX and passed away August 24th 2011 in Dallas, TX. Homer loved Colorado and spent many years hunting and vacationing there with his family and friends. Homer served in the 781 Tank Battalion during World War II in the European Theater. After the war he met the love of his life, Dee and they were married for 59 years. He and Dee later went back to Europe and re-traced the areas where he served. Together they raised a family while Homer started and ran his business in Dallas, TX. His love of Colorado was passed on to his children who also spend every summer and fall vacationing there. Homer moved to Dallas in 1948, ran a successful automotive business for 40 years and returned to Colorado every summer on vacation. Homer was a 32nd Mason since 1951 he also enjoyed his 30 years as a member of The Elks Lodge 71 in Dallas where he and Dee danced, ate and traded war stories every weekend. Dee passed away November 1, 2007. Their friends at the Elks Lodge were a great comfort and support to Homer afterwards. Homer is survived by daughter, Tanya Turner-Steele, her husband Lee Steele; son, Jay Bart Turner, his wife Lynne, granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Turner; brother, Billy Jack Turner; sister, Georgia Mae Cheatwood; and he left behind many friends and neighbors whom he loved. Homer will be laid to rest Saturday, August 27, 2011 in Rule, TX. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital. P.O.
