Hong Huoth's Obituary
Hong Huoth passed away August 5, 2020, after a long battle with cancer.
Born in Odong, Cambodia, Hong Huoth is survived by his wife, Vanny Huoth, and daughter, Dorothy Huoth.
Hong was a Math Professor in Cambodia and came to Seattle, Washington as a refugee in 1983. In Seattle, he went to school and worked at ELDEC Electronics as an Electronics Assembler. He received his Associates Degree shortly after he moved to Texas in 1984. He worked at Boeing as an aircraft technician for over 14 years until 9/11. In 2004, he and his family opened a family business in Longview, Texas. During these years, Hong raised goats and chickens at home with his wife; Shih Tzu Jerry, owned by Dorothy Huoth and fiancé Ryan Simbeck, followed him to assist every time they visited. Hong’s calm demeanor and willingness to help others were noticed by everyone he met; his love for people was truly evident in everything he did. Hong sought to instill the value of hard work and kept his loving commitment to friends and family.
He loved to travel, and especially to the beach. If someone saw him there, he would either be walking the sand and shoreline or sitting and listening to the ocean. You would also find Hong enjoying the scenery with food and family, or with chicken on a string ready to catch crab! Any chance he got, he would always try to take a trip, even if it were just to Galveston. The last trip in 2019 will be remembered fondly by the whole family.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, August 16, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. Flowers and memorial gifts will be received by:
