Hope Clark Waggoner Jr.'s Obituary
Waggoner, Hope Clark, Jr. Born in Atlanta, GA, November 29, 1924 to Hope Clark Waggoner, Sr. and Cora Dennard Waggoner. Predeceased by brother, George Waggoner and sister, Martha Ann Carter. Survived by wife of 58 years, Mary Frances; daughter, Susan Koch and husband Tom of Laguna Beach, CA and grandchildren, Tom Koch III of Aliso Viejo, CA and Michelle Koch, a student at San Diego State University in San Diego, CA. He served in World War II as Scout Car Commander with Troop A, 18th Calvary Reconnaissance Squadron mechanized in the European Theater of Operations. In 1950 he graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering. He worked with Frito Lay as a mechanical engineer from 1954 until his retirement in 1987 due to health problems. His love of the violin led him to making violins for 41 years, although he didn’t start learning to play until age 80. He also loved astronomy and built an observatory at Lake Kiowa, TX. He was a member of the “Herschel 400 Club”. When he was no longer able to pursue these hobbies he researched geneology. Visitation will be from 3-9pm, Friday, October 10, 2008 at Restland Funeral Home. Memorial service will be held at 12:30pm, Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Restland Wildwood Chapel with Rev. JoNell Lindh officiating. In lieu of flowers, rememberances to the charity of your choice or memorial fund to Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 12411 Templeton Trail, Farmers Branch, TX 75234.
