Hosea Allison Sr's Obituary
On January 24, 1924, Hosea Allison, born in Carthage, Texas, became the fourth child of Dave and Martha Allison. As a youth, he was especially diligent and loving and was a helpful brother to his three sisters and three brothers, who preceded him in death; one brother survives. His relationship with his siblings was very special, as he had a close bond and friendship with all of them. Like the Old Testament Prophet Hosea, he was a man of God and knew this at an early age when he accepted Christ and was baptized. Hosea led a life of service, love, and commitment to his wife, his children, and his church and community. A soft-spoken, strong Christian man, he never wavered in his commitment to God and family; his friends could also depend on him, as his word was his bond. He said, “The first time I saw Eva Mae Brown, I knew that she was the one and only.” Their marriage on September 3, 1944, sealed a relationship that lasted for seventy-one years, and from this union four children became blessed by God for having parents who loved, protected, and guided them in the ways of the Lord. Not desiring his wife to work outside the home, Hosea always provided sufficiently for his family, often sacrificing his own health and needs for their protection and safety. Keeping his wife happy was his enduring mission, which he never neglected, even during his illness. He knew he had a gem that was worth more than gold. A sensitive, compassionate woman, his loving wife made sure that he was well fed, well groomed and, most of all well respected. Their marriage was made in Heaven. As a father, Hosea (often affectionately called “Pete” by family and friends) was his children’s first biblical influence because he would gather them around him to study God’s Word. Though at times they were recalcitrant and reluctant, all of them came to Christ while they were young and learned to love God as their father loved him. A voracious Bible scholar, most of his education was derived from the Holy Scriptures. Employed by J. Y. Taylor Manufacturing Company from 1950 until retirement, Hosea’s employer, Mrs. Taylor always let him know that his job there was guaranteed for life because he was such a devoted and dependable man. His love for her was one of genuine respect. His hobbies included fishing, hunting and imbibing all that Nature could give. During retirement, Hosea never stopped moving, finding jobs not only to supplement income but also mainly to assuage his never-ending love of life; hence, his ninety-one years attests to that. Survivors include his beautiful wife Eva, two daughters: Gladys M. Tyler, Nadine McDaniel (Monroe); his devoted, special daughter-in-law, Cynthia Allison; seven grandchildren: Charlotte Allison-Bates (Floyd), Marie Antoinette Branch, Kanika Allison-Coleman (Lamonta), Allison Malley (Brendan), Kamila Allison, Robert Allison, Jr.; five great grandchildren: Eva Johnson, LaKendra Branch, LaShundria Branch, William Malley, Hosea Edward Malley, and one great, great grandson. The visitation for Hosea Allison will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, January 11, 2016 in The Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. The service for Hosea will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Greater Cornerstone Baptist Church. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
