Hosea Cleo Chancey's Obituary
H. C. Chancey died at 6:45 p.m on December 25, 2016. He was born in Merkel, TX on November 10, 1919, the fourth child of Callaway Chancey and Rosa Cross Chancey. He attended Warren Elementary School, Merkel High School, and graduated in 1938. He also attended Frye’s Vocational school in Dallas. H. C. married his childhood sweetheart, Lyla Christine Hobbs, May 9,1941 and celebrated more than 65 years together. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lyla, both parents, three sisters, one brother, and his son, Donald Ray Chancey. He is survived by a daughter, Sandra Chancey of Richardson, TX, one grandson, Jon Chancey, of Sachse, TX, two great grandchildren, Hannah Chancey and Waylon Chancey, and a host of nieces and nephews. He served in the U. S. Army from 1943-1946 in Foreign Service in the European Theatre of Operations. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He retired from Raytheon E-Systems and predecessor companies of Temco and LTV after more than 35 years of service. Graveside service for Hosea Chancey will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, December 30, 2016 at Restland Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Gary Sinise Foundation.
