Howard T Bigham's Obituary
Howard Bigham was called home on Monday August 14, 2017 at the age of 90. Howard was a faithful member of Freeman Heights Baptist Church and dedicated servant of the Lord. His upbringing, his adventures and his long life made him a man of quick wit who was always ready with a joke or humorous observation that made everyone’s day brighter. Howard was born in Morgan, Texas to Winnie and Tom Bigham. After serving in the Navy during the closing days of World War II, Howard returned to Dallas to complete his college education at Texas Wesleyan and Decatur Baptist Colleges, going on to complete his diploma program at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. He was an ordained Baptist minister and worked as both interim pastor and music minister at several small churches in North Texas. His occupations included truck driver, grocery store manager, wholesale grocery supply sales, and ownership of a sporting goods store. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Venice Jo Bigham, his son and daughter-in-law Jeff and Linda Bigham and their daughters Kristen and Lauren; his step-daughter Amanda Johnson and her children Sean and Caren; his step-daughter Mary Jo Johnston and her husband Kenneth and their sons and daughters-in-law Jarrod and Leanne, Thomas and Jessica, William and Lydia and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings and his wife of 47 years, Elizabeth Anne Bigham. His family would especially like to thank the wonderful church family at Freeman Heights for their friendship, love and support. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 18, 2017 from 5:00-7:00pm at Restland Funeral Home. His funeral service will be held on Saturday August 19, 2017 at Freeman Heights Baptist Church located at 1120 N Garland Ave., Garland, TX 75040 at 1:00pm.
