Howard R. Miller's Obituary
MILLER, HOWARD R. of Dallas, beloved father, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2009. He was born in Ponta (Cherokee Co.), Texas on November 10 to Marguerite and James R. Miller. After 36 years in sales and management, he retired from Westinghouse Elevator Corporation. Howard was an avid golfer, playing at various area clubs over 50 years. He was a member of Dallas Elks Lodge #71. Howard was a long-time member of Ridgewood Park United Methodist Church, where he served in many leadership positions including administrative board chairman and lay leader. He was a member of the Amlin Sunday School Class over 25 years. Preceded in death by his parents, brother James R. Miller, Jr. and loving wife of 54 years Alice. Survived by his daughters Margie Miller of Plano, and Carol and husband John Stevenson of Plano, grandson Keith and wife Shelly Stevenson of Plano, granddaughter Diane and husband Chad Hatfield of Rockwall, and four great grandchildren. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 until 7:00 pm, Monday, October 26, 2009 at Restland Funeral Home. A service celebrating Howard’s life will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, October 27, 2009 in Restland’s Wildwood Chapel, with interment to follow in Restland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to Ridgewood Park United Methodist Church, 6445 East Lovers Lane, Dallas, TX 75214.
