Howard Otto Shipley's Obituary
Shipley, Howard was united with his Savior, Jesus Christ on Jan. 26, 2013 in Dallas, Texas. Howard was born in Marshall, Minnesota on Feb. 11, 1927. He is reunited with his father, Nathan Otto Shipley; mother, Esther Mabel Johnston; and sister, Lucille Winslow. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Sue Dickson Shipley; daughters, Susan Chavez and her husband, Frank; and Lorraine Denman; grandchildren: Joy Chavez, Hope Chavez, and Nathan Denman; his sister, Kathryn Dick. Howard served in the U.S. Air Force during WW II and graduated from the University of Colorado with an Accounting degree. Howard was a state excise tax accountant with Magnolia Petroleum, which merged with Mobil Oil and retired after 41 years. He served as a Deacon at First Baptist Dallas and was a Team Captain and Division Leader for the Annual Campaign of Metropolitan Dallas YMCA. At the 150 year celebration of the YMCA in 2010, Howard was honored with the Sam Winstead Volunteer of the Year Award. Visitation will be Tues. Jan 29, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas. A celebration of Howard’s life will be held Wed. Jan 30, 2013 at 2:00 PM in Heritage Chapel at First Baptist Dallas.
