Hubert Nicholson's Obituary
Hubert "Nick" Eugene Nicholson, born March 30, 1938, in Dallas, Texas, to John D. Nicholson and Jessie Elizabeth Rogers Nicholson, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2024. A proud Texan, Nick was the youngest of five sons, all of whom preceded him in death.
Nick served his country honorably in the U.S. Army National Guard continuing work as a mechanic most of his life and retiring twice from Freeman Oldsmobile. Later in life, he worked part time for the City of Cedar Hill and Cedar Hill ISD. He was a man who valued solitude and simplicity, often finding peace out on the lake.
His brilliance sparked a lifelong curiosity for knowledge in those around him, instilling in his family inquisition and the love of learning. He loved to tease his loved ones, give sugars, preen his cherished vegetable garden, and the companionship of his beloved dogs. Nick showed the value of enjoying life’s simplest pleasures—whether it was the satisfaction of hard work, a game of Skip-Bo, or the unmatched joy of an afternoon nap.
Nick embodied loyalty, duty, and hard work—qualities he passed down to his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Wynell Dolloff Nicholson, and grandson, Johnathon Troy Nicholson. He is survived by his sons Tommy Eugene Nicholson and John Douglas Nicholson, daughter Malinda Nicholson, grandchildren Tiffany Nicholson, Brittany Huddleston, and Jacob Nicholson, and great-grandchildren Ethan and Aubrey Huddleston, Mason and Max Delgado, John and Paysleigh Nicholson, and Jade and Ryder Nicholson.
A man of faith and dedication, Nick was a longtime deacon and member of the Oak Crest Baptist Church in Midlothian, Texas.
