WARDEN, HUBERT P. (HU) Hu Warden died Saturday, January 20, 2007 in Dallas, Texas after a lengthy illness.Hu was born May 7, 1921 in Paris, Missouri. He grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, attended the University of Tulsa and Oklahoma State University,where he received degrees in Architecture and Architectural Engineering in 1949.Hu served in the Marine Corps from June of ’43 until January of ’46, the last 21 months on various islands in the Pacific, ending up on Okinawa making preparations to invade Japan.He practiced architecture in Oklahoma and Texas with the firms of George L. Dahl and Thomas E. Stanley, where he was Chief Architect for eight years, then established the firm of Warden Evans Hill.Hu and his wife, Helen, with the help of their sons, operated ranches in Franklin and Wise Counties for 28 years producing prime registered BeefMaster cattle.Hu was a member of the American Institute of Architects, the Texas Society of Architects, the National Council of Architectural Rgistration Board, the Construction Specifications Institute and the National BeefMasterAssociation.Hu was an active member for 53 years of the First Presbyterian Church of Dallas, where he served as deacon, elder and foundation board trustee, as well as president of the Allman Class.He enjoyed the G5 Bible Study Group, travel, bridge, art, and most of all his family.Survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen; sons Bill and wife Betty of Mansfield, Texas, and John and wife Debbie, of Austin; grandchildren Rachel, Diane and Jared; sisters-in-law, Mrs. A.R. Wetter of Albany, WI, and Mrs. Hank Hartgers of San Jose, CA, and several nieces and nephews.A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 27 in the chapel at First Presbyterian Church, Young and Harwood.Covered parking in church garage, entrance off Park Avenue.A reception will follow in church parlor.The family suggests memorials to First Presbyterian Church of Dallas Foundation, 408 Park Avenue, Dallas, TX 75201.
